Thanks to the TV News and Print media and the lack of opposition from the Labour Party Leadership; the majority of the public are totally unaware that, Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd November are important days for the progress of the Health and Care Bill through parliament; and ultimately for the survival of the NHS! With ex-CEO of US Healthcare company, United Health and ex-CEO of NHS England Simon Stevens now made a Lord by the Tory Government in order for him to sit in the House of Lords and ensure the safe passage of the Bill; further lies will be told as he claims the NHS itself wants the creation of an American based Integrated Care System and the private healthcare sector to deliver NHS services. The reality is that none of the doctors, nurses, and clinicians want this. They want proper funding that is not being diverted as it is now, to private healthcare companies as it has been since since the days of the Tony Blair Governments; and escalated to the the tune of £18 Billion worth of contracts being handed to private American and UK based healthcare providers by successive Tory Governments since 2010. In 2011, the Health and Social Care Bill passed through Parliament despite campaigns across the country demanding the Bill be scrapped. In the House of Lords there was a lot of concern over that Bill, but Paddy Ashdown persuaded the Lords not to oppose the Bill, saying it was not the responsibility of the House to block Government policies, but merely to amend it where they wished to do so. Such amendments were then rejected by the Tory Government, and the Bill became an Act pretty much intact! Further, then, and as now, not a single TV News Channel reported on the debates and passing of the 2011 Bill which instructed the NHYS to put out to tender, healthcare cervices to 'any suitable provider'! The result being the continued take over of the Private sector of healthcare from the NHS. Furthermore, and in condemnation of the Labour Party, the opposition has been appalling and betrayed the principles of the NHS as set up in 1948, with its support for the idea of Integrated Care, the use of the private sector; and unwillingness to bring to the public attention the reality that this Tory Health & Care Bill will end the NHS and allow the take over of American healthcare companies such as Centene. The American insurance based system will take-over as it has already allowed Centene to become the biggest provider of GP practices in England, as well as being part of the secret Downing Street Health Committee designing the replacement of the NHS with American Healthcare insurance based delivery of healthcare in England. At the same time, the Trade Union Movement has also been almost silent about the Health and Care Bill, and allowed its membership to remain largely ignorant of the threat to the NHS that the Tory legislation presents. Hence why Monday 22nd November is the last best hope we have to register the extent of our opposition to the Health & Care Bill before it is passed to the House of Lords, and fight for its survival. Unite in Health, alongside Keep Our NHS Public, Health Campaigns Together, We Own, NHS Workers Say No, Your NHS Needs You It and may others have called a protest in WESTMINSTER, A stage has been setup for the protest at the corner of Whitehall and Richmond Terrace opposite Downing Street for speeches and assembly point.
