Do You Get Pssst Often?

A revolutionary new alcohol awareness campaign by Liverpool Primary Care Trust and strategic Citysafe partners: Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was launched prior to the run up to Christmas and New Year festivities.

The campaign, Pssst! Be Alcohol Aware, aims to promote key messages about both men and women knowing their alcohol limits when out drinking as well as drinking in the home.

Pssst LogoInformation provided includes help and advice for those who wish to cut down, advice on keeping safe and healthy when out having fun, mixed in with some hard hitting facts for the figure conscious.

Most people will be shocked to know that a bottle of red wine has the same calorie count as six jam doughnuts!

But you don't have to be a resident of Liverpool to take advantage of the message and the healthy drinking facts around alcohol consumption, as the campaign is alive and kicking on line through its dedicated website.

The good thing about this site is that the next day following your hang over and guilt trip, you can see for yourself the exact damage your previous night's indulgence in your favourite drink has caused. You can even calculate your precise intake and keep a running total!!

So here's the Alcohol facts bit:

The UK government recommends a maximum daily drinks allowance of 2 - 3 units for women and 3 - 4 units for men

I pint of premium lager is exactly 2.8 units

1 glass (175 ml) of wine is exactly 2.1 units

Now we won't even mention those quick trips to the pub at lunch time!

Check out the Pssst! Be Alcohol Aware website asap.

Oh and watch out for those talking urinals!

More will be revealed on the site - Get PSSST here
