Gender Sensitive H&S Promoted At CWU Conference

In announcing its full programme of health & safety events at this year’s annual conference being held in Liverpool starting this weekend 8th June, the CWU is clearly supporting the view that H&S should be gender sensitive and that gender is indeed a health & safety issue.

This year's Health & SafetyFringe Meeting, taking place on Tuesday 10 June at 1 pm
follows the theme through with the main subject of the meeting being:  'Occupational Health & Safety - A Gender Issue'. Speakers will be leading figures from Men's Health Forum (MHF) and Wellbeing of Women (WOW).

In addition stands exhibiting this year at the conference include both the Men's Health Forum (MHF) and Wellbeing of Women (WOW).

Wellbeing of Women', is in its 44th year, and has raised millions to invest and fund the very best medical research and training. Every woman living in the UK will have benefited from five decades of the charity's achievements in women's healthcare. The organisation specialises in raising money to invest in medical research and the development of specialist doctors and nurses working in the field of reproductive and gynaecological health, working in partnership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to improve women's health. In 2007, the Prime Minister's wife, Sarah Brown became the WOW's Patron.

The Men's Health Forum's mission is to provide an independent and authoritative voice for male health and to tackle the issues affecting the health and well-being of boys and men in England and Wales. The aim is to improve the health of men by encouraging them to take advantage of occupational health initiatives available in their workplaces and by helping employers strengthen and expand such indicatives.

This will result in boosts to workplace morale and a decrease in sickness absence, both of which are invaluable to employers and employees alike.
