Work-related Stress Event For Trade Union Safety Representatives

Click to downloadThe HSE are organising a work-related stress event for Trade Union Safety Representatives on dealing with 'Stress' through the HSE Management Standards.

The event entitled "Protecting the well-being of UK workers" will be held in London, at the Victoria Plaza Hotel on 25th November and places are 'free'.

The two page leaflet on the left gives details of the event and illustrates the appalling levels that exist in the UK:

"No one with an interest in employee well-being can afford to ignore the problem of work-related stress. Recent statistics show it to have caused half a million sufferers and 13.8 million days lost in the UK."

Places can be booked at via the HSE website with registration online required by 10th November.

Managers have a duty to prevent work related stress from affecting the health and well-being of workers. But employees and their Safety Representatives have an equally important role to play.

This free event is for TU Safety Representatives who have an understanding of the "HSE Stress Management Standards" for work-related stress and want to find out more about protecting employee well-being.

Lunch will be provided and the day is expected to run from 10 am to 4 pm.

In the meantime it is worth noting that this year's National Stress Awareness Day is on November 5th.

The theme is is focusing on the pressures we create ourselves - in particular the 'worrying' habit. Worrying undermines our natural ability to cope and most people admit it is completely ineffective. This both reduces energy and undermines self confidence.
