22nd to 28th April The TUC is running a week of H&S inspections awareness, which backs up USR right to innspect the workplace to ensure risks of injury and illness is addressed by providing the employer with a report of problems found, and to work with them to remove/mitigate the issues found. This is a campaign previously supported by the CWU Health, Safety and Environment Dept each year. Shelly Asquith from the TUC in promoting the week said: "In the week 22nd – 28th April, we are inviting safety reps to carry out a building safety inspection. We’ll be shining a light on what needs improving, and how unions are best placed to understand and advocate for safer workplaces." In her video on the TUC website, she highlights two of the major building construction risks to worker's health - RAAC and Asbestos. The week is aimed at supporting Union Safety Reps in the days leading up to the annual International Workers Memorial Day event on Sunday 28th April. You can sign up to take part, and they ’ll send you an info pack. Plus, if you carry out an inspection and tell them about it, you’ll receive TUC Education credentials that recognises what you've done. Sign Up To TUC's Workplace Inspection Week Now
