With Friday 7th July being Action Mesothelioma Day 2024, in the UK, it is timely that the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has just updated its advice with regard to where asbestos can be found in most homes that were built before the year 2000. When materials that contain asbestos are disturbed or damaged, fibres are released into the air. When people inhale these fibres they can cause serious diseases which cannot be cured. The most common diseases caused by asbestos are: The HSE guidance states that wether you are a worker, landlord, employer or person responsible for building maintenance, you should be aware of where asbestos can be found in buildings. You need to protect yourself and others.
