New Government Consultation Is The Last Best Hope For The NHS

The situation facing the NHS is existential if the Health and Social Care Secretary is to be believed! Given that literally billions of pounds are being syphoned off from the NHS budget to private healthcare private equity interests and it now being no longer a 'national service' but broken up into the US healthcare system model of 42 integrated care systems with their own autonomous boards and budgets; of all the things he says, only this one can be believed.

image NHS consultatrion website - click to openThat is providing of course he actually takes notice of what the public want - a re-formed NHS following the repeal of the two acts which broke it up (Health and Social Care Act 2012 & Health care Act 2022) and made it possible for private healthcare interests along with US companies such as Centene and United Health to fully take-over UK's healthcare ownership and profit to the tune of Billions from healthcare provision, or rather healthcare denial as it does in the USA!

Today the 21st October 2024, Wes Streeting's NHS public consultation website, Change.nhs.uk, went on-line.

Whilst both the public and organisations - private healthcare companies, NHS defence groups, healthcare charities and big pharmacy in the UK, are able to comment separately; it will be interesting to see which of the two 'constituencies' Streeting actually takes notice of.

It must be pointed out that this tactic before publicising Government's plans for the NHS in the form of a 'ten year plan' is of course Blair's previous health advisor and 'PFI guru' Alan Milburn's trick in 1978 after which he set the rivers of healthcare privatisation flowing good style and saddled the NHS with millions of pounds of debt by doing deals with private equity and finance funds, which to this day still exists! That and the creation of foundation hospitals status first dreamed up by Tory MPs Jonathan Redwood and Oliver Letwin in the '80s.

It is imperative for those wishing to have the NHS put back into public ownership, and become a 'national health service' again that both of the Acts (Health and Social Care Act 2012 & Health care Act 2022) are repealed because that is the only way to ensure private healthcare and finance driven by American healthcare companies already embedded within the NHS and NHS England; can be removed from the role of NHS Policy making that they currently are involved in doing.centen

Wes Streeting is of course simply doing the bidding of these main US and UK private healthcare companies: - Centene, United Health, Circle Health, HCRG Healthcare, Bridgepoint, BUPA, Centene Corporation, Spire Healthcare and UnitedHealth Group (UHG)- and of Alan Milburn according to many commentators and NHS pressure groups, and given there is a separate section with appropriate resources within the consultation website; this view is no doubt emphasized given Streeting only needs to listen to their vested interests, given his refusal to repeal the privatisation of healthcare acts.

In reality he is blindly following the McKinsey & Co principle of maximising profit from healthcare and the 'profit pool' growth. His urge to use 'digital' in place of face to face healthcare cnsultations, is typicall of the McKinsey principle as stated on their website:

'As the US healthcare system seeks ever greater innovation to harness the potential presented by technology in solving many critical issues, the importance of services and technology businesses will continue to grow. The profit pool in this rapidly growing, dynamic market presents exciting opportunities, significant risks, and long-term structural questions for both those who are building businesses in this sector today and those in the broader healthcare value chain they serve.'

Turning the NHS into a local healthcare model is his aim, and one already begun by the Tory's two healthcare acts which broke up a national servie into 42 autonomous 'local' healthcare services.

The website states, the consultation is open to everyone; but there is a clear separate consultation going on:

If you are contributing as a representative of an organisation, complete the organisation questionnaire. This is an early opportunity to share your insights as we begin an extensive programme of engagement to develop the 10 Year Health Plan.

Please involve yourself in the consultation which is open until 4th December 2024 by clicking the image top right.

This is your last best chance to save the NHS from complete privatisation!
