Before joining BT I worked as a technical director in the entertainment industry setting up stages along with associated lighting and sound rigs for touring shows. Health and Safety played a massive part in everything I did as the consequences of getting it wrong in that environment could be catastrophic.

I joined BT (and the CWU) in 2007 and have worked in a variety of roles in BT, including Business Repair, Consumer Repair, High Level Complaints, Contract Manager, Commercial Service Desk Manager, Home Advisor, Trainer and Consumer Welfare Lead.

Following a business reorganisation in 2015 I found myself back in a call centre environment and this is when I became more involved with the union. Initially I became a workplace rep and member of the Branch Executive Committee of Mersey Branch, but as time progressed I took on a lead role as Union Learning Officer and in 2018 became one of the Branch’s two Lead Industrial Relations Reps securing full time release to the Union. In 2019 I became a Union Safety Rep and in 2021, I progressed to Safety Co-Ord.

On a personal note, I live in Wirral with my young son and we can often be found out and about either cycling or walking on the Wirral Way or over in North Wales. In my down-time I enjoy DIY, restoring and repurposing furniture, reading and socialising with friends and family and I’m currently doing a course in Employment Law.

I am enjoying my new role and the challenges it presents as well as the opportunity to interact with new people. I’m committed to ensuring a safe environment for all of our members.
